Study Hall

 

The Study Hall Program is designed to specifically target the problems of a student's GPA(grade point average) and work towards fixing those problems. Students are given a calm focused place to study, making it perfect for learning good study habits, and getting works done.

An exclusive program, the Study Hall Program goes beyond simply teaching subjects, but rather teaches the students how to become good scholars, allowing them to do well beyond the academy.

Our SAT program is differnt from the run-of-the mill test preparation classes students may encounter anywhere else. Not only do we provide our students the overall understanding of the test but also provide strategies and practices to achieve the score students want. We offer flexible programs and personalized schedules to meet the busiest of schedules.​​

AP Program
Ap courses are designed to engage students in college level course and prepare them for the rigors of college level work while still in high school. Taking AP subjects in high school requires commitment and time-management skills, and because they are college level courses (first year), students may find the workload a bit daunting.
We realize that unfamiliarity and the level of work required for AP subjects can be overwhelming to the student, but Columbia Academy instructors can giv the students the coaching and the instructions they need in order to do their best in any AP course. Our programs are flexible and can accomodate the busiest of students.

Junior High Programs
GPA Management
We provide meticulous care of our student's needs and provide tutoring assistances. Parents have the option of choosing 2 to 4 day prgram depending on the academic need. The students come to study hall to receive guided study and semi private lesson from teachers with different expertise.
 
IB Preparation
We prepare high performing students to take on the IB classes or Honor classes in high school. Some schools require students to pass an entrance examination in order to be admitted to the IB program.
 
Private High School Exams
For elementary and middle school students planning to apply to private and Catholic schools, we offer a specialized course designed to prepare students for the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE), Secondary Scool Admissions Test (SSAT), and the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Classes are demanding, with considerable homework and in-class assignments.
 
Reading & Vocabulary
This class provides critical and analytical reading skills necessary to do well in high school AP English and AP History classes.
 
 
Writing & Grammar
This course is designed to improve students' writing skills through various types of writing practices, such as essay, fiction, poem, etc., and by having an instructor constantly edit drafts and guiding them to write and edit "perfect writing samples.
 
Math
Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and ALgebra 2.
These classes are designed to improve students' grades by previewing and reviewing of concepts and solving math problems to reinforce mathematical concepts.
